I have collected some of my favorite knitting patterns for your enjoyment. All of these patterns can be found online for free, and where possible I have given credit to the original designer. None of these patterns is my own, and I do not claim any as my own.
Knitting is a wonderful craft to learn, and in this book we’ll explore some easy and intermediate patterns. We’ll also spend a bit of time refreshing your skills, or if you’re a beginner learning basic stitches and techniques.
Once you’re finished with this book I hope you’ll be ready to move onto to more challenging and advanced patterns. I feel part of the fun of knitting is creating something with your hands that is unique and one of a kind. So feel free to put your own spin on the patterns which follow. If you don’t like the colors listed, use your own. If you want to change the gauge of a pattern simply move up or down a needle size.

Most people have a vision for their lives that they’re not pursuing, half-heartedly pursuing, or pursuing with all their might yet somehow falling short. This vision can be modest or grand. It may involve breaking free of a destructive habit or finding a truly healthy relationship. It might have to do with making a real difference in the world or helping to lead a company to extraordinary success. In The One Thing Holding You Back, Raphael Cushnir, a leading voice in the world of personal and professional development, reveals that whenever people aren’t living their dreams it’s because they’re not yet willing and able to feel specific emotions related to those dreams. After being seriously wounded in the 1939 Polish campaign, Rochus Misch was invited to join Hitler’s SS-bodyguard. There he served until the war’s end as Hitler’s bodyguard, courier, orderly and finally as Chief of Communications. On the Berghof terrace he watched Eva Braun organize parties; observed Heinrich Himmler and Albert Speer; and monitored telephone conversations from Berlin to the East Prussian FHQ on 20 July 1944 after the attempt on Hitler’s life. Towards the end Misch was drawn into the Führerbunker with the last of the ‘faithful’. As defeat approached, he remained in charge of the bunker switchboard as his duty required, even after Hitler committed suicide.
Misch knew Hitler as the private man and his position was one of unconditional loyalty. His memoirs offer an intimate view of life in close attendance to Hitler and of the endless hours deep inside the bunker; and provide new insights into military events such as Hitler’s initial feelings that the 6th Army should pull out of Stalingrad.

Hers is an unforgettable story of tragedy, triumph, and courage.
In Dark Star Safari the wittily observant and endearingly irascible Paul Theroux takes readers the length of Africa by rattletrap bus, dugout canoe, cattle truck, armed convoy, ferry, and train. In the course of his epic and enlightening journey, he endures danger, delay, and dismaying circumstances.
Gauging the state of affairs, he talks to Africans, aid workers, missionaries, and tourists. What results is an insightful meditation on the history, politics, and beauty of Africa and its people, and “a vivid portrayal of the secret sweetness, the hidden vitality, and the long-patient hope that lies just beneath the surface” (Rocky Mountain News). In a new postscript, Theroux recounts the dramatic events of a return to Africa to visit Zimbabwe.

In the room was my loving boyfriend—how could I have forgotten him?—my uncle and my abusive stepmother. Everyone blames me for the tragic car accident that left me near death and my dear brother brain damaged. But what they say can’t be true—can it?
I believe the medicine is doing strange things to my memory. I’m unsure who I can trust and who I should run from. And I’m starting to remember things I’ve never known. Things not about me. I think I’m going crazy.
And even worse, I think they want to kill me. But who? And for what? Is dying for the truth really better than living with a lie?
Juana of Castile, the last queen of Spanish blood to inherit her country’s throne, has been for centuries an enigmatic figure shrouded in lurid myth. Gortner challenges the myths about Queen Juana, unraveling the mystery surrounding her to reveal a brave, determined woman we can only now begin to fully understand.
