Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motor Co. and one of the greatest businessmen of all time, tops today’s Buffet with his memoir, My Life and Work.
Ford’s introduction of the Model T automobile revolutionized transportation and American industry. As owner of the company, Ford became one of the richest and best-known people in the world.
Although he didn’t invent the automobile or the assembly line, Ford developed and manufactured the first car that many middle-class Americans could afford. In doing so, he converted the automobile from an expensive curiosity into a practical conveyance that would profoundly impact the landscape of the twentieth century.
Ford is treated as a character in several historical novels, notably E. L. Doctorow’s Ragtime (1975), and Richard Powers’ novel Three Farmers on the Way to a Dance (1985).

This book is the original autobiographical work by Henry Ford, founder of the Ford Motor Company and one of the greatest businessmen of all time. In this book, Ford details how he got into business, the strategies that he used to become a wealthy and successful businessman, and what others can do by learning from the examples he has outlined. Ford takes you through a journey of history, business and lessons to be learned from which he used to develop his financial empire.
The story begins with the narrator, who’s standing by a fire in an unknown room, confidently announcing to a couple of rather creepy elderly people that he’s never seen a ghost and is not easily frightened. These creepy people – a man with a withered arm and an older woman – warn the narrator ominously that he’s doing whatever it is he’s doing (we don’t know the details yet) by his own choosing.
The sense of foreboding increases when another even more ghoulish old man suddenly appears. This “man with the shade” enters the room and coughs up a storm. In the midst of a tense silence, the narrator asks to be shown to the haunted room. The man with the withered arm tells him to take the candle outside the door. If the narrator wants to go to “the red room” on “this night of all nights”, says the old man, he has have to go alone.
This new Slate Ridge Press edition of the classic Hawaiian mystery concludes with “The Making of MURDER ON MOLOKA’I”—fifty-five pages of previously unpublished excerpts and explanatory notes by the author. These bonus materials give us a glimpse into the creative process behind the book and expand our conception of the Surfing Detective and his Hawai‘i. A must for fans of the wave-riding gumshoe!
When Boston heiress Adrienne Ridgely strides into his Honolulu office, Surfing Detective Kai Cooke likes what he sees, but doubts what he hears. Adrienne’s sister, environmental activist Sara Ridgely-Parke, plunged to her death from a mule on Moloka‘i – the first fatal incident on the soaring cliffs above Kalaupapa’s fabled leper colony. Murder, cries Adrienne, perpetrated by Sara’s ex-husband, developer J. Gregory Parke. Cooke flies to Moloka‘i, tracking tantalizing leads to an unlikely murder that, despite himself, he starts to believe in.
Was the mule prodded or spooked or drugged? Did Parke do it for vengeance, or Adrienne for an inheritance, as Parke alleges? Soon Kai uncovers a motive more noxious than either of these – entangling him in the shady dealings of big-time developers, corrupt politicians, and underworld thugs. As he hops from island to island seeking a pivotal clue, the clock ticks down on more than the P.I.’s case or even his own life. The future of Moloka‘i itself is at stake.
Matt Williams takes us on an introspective journey that compels us to challenge our thinking and behaviour around making exercise related changes. With an ability to translate complex psychological theories into practical and insightful narratives, Williams brings to life a whole new understanding of exercise motivation through the introduction of a new model of change, the Exercise Motivation Change Cycle or EMCC.
Along the way we learn why some people struggle to make exercise related changes, despite years of trying, while others seem to have a remarkable ability to start and stick with an exercise programme on their first attempt. We delve into the minds of behaviour change experts as well as everyday people who have accomplished extraordinary things to explore exactly how to make and maintain exercise related changes.
We discover how the right habits and mind-set were crucial to the success of nine time Coast to Coast winner Steve Gurney, Junior Mr Universe Kagan Orton and NZ cricketer Andrew Ellis. We go inside the minds of medical professionals, coaches, and martial artists and see how a well-rounded understanding of motivation and change can mean the difference between wanting to do something and actually doing it.

Then the walks become longer. Then the other dog starts showing up. The big white one, with the funny looking head. The one that sits and watches Martin and his family as they walk away.
All over the world, the first attacks begin. The Brotherhood of the Raid make their existence known; a leaderless group who randomly and inexplicably assault both strangers and loved ones without explanation.

NASA discovered the alien ship lurking in the asteroid belt in the 1960s. They kept the Target under intense surveillance for decades, letting the public believe they were exploring the solar system, while they worked feverishly to refine the technology needed to reach it.

The ship isn’t vacant, as they presumed.
A disembodied voice rumbles inside Jane’s head, “You are home.”
