If you enjoy military action novels, don’t miss today’s top pick, Eyes of the Hammer by bestselling author Bob Mayer. A former Green Beret, Bob mixes his knowledge of the military with elements of truth and fiction. He doesn’t change history, but instead changes how history came into being.
Today’s pick, Bob’s debut novel, was originally printed in hardcover by Presidio Press in 1991 but Bob updated the Kindle edition last October. The story follows Riley, a Special Forces soldier sent to “terminate” a drug lord in Columbia. His companion is a woman, Westland, a CIA agent. The intrigue and plotting of the military and various government agencies are interwoven into a masterpiece of technology and suspense.
Bob now has more than 50 fiction and nonfiction books to his name. In 2004, he met romance novelist Jennifer Crusie at a writer’s conference, and the pair decided to collaborate on a series of military-themed romance novels. The collaboration takes place over email, with Bob writing scenes from the male perspective and Jennifer writing those that involve the female perspective. Their first joint novel, Don’t Look Down, was published in 2006.
