Mark E. Berent was a decorated U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel from Minneapolis who served three combat tours in the Vietnam War, and turned his experiences into a bestselling series of war fiction called “Rolling Thunder.” Book 1 in the five-book series, published in 1989, tops today’s Buffet. It’s the kind of realistic, historical war fiction that could be written only be a real-life air combat veteran.
