Dorien Kelly is the award-winning author of The Last Bride in Ballymuir, the first novel in her captivating trilogy from Pocket Books. Upon its release 10 years ago, Book 1 won the Maggie, Molly and Southern Heat contests, among several other awards.

This romance series has been revived for the Kindle, and Book 1 tops today’s Buffet. And this isn’t merely a recycling of the original text — Dorien updated all three books especially for their Kindle debut, a process she calls “a labor of love.”

Set in the lush Irish countryside, the story goes down just fine with a warm cup of tea, making this winter’s chill a distant memory.

With 19 novels and novellas in print, Dorien makes her home in Michigan. Before becoming a published author, she worked for several years as a commercial lawyer, but eventually returned to her old love, writing.

“Ultimately, I realized that while a legal career was lucrative, it was making me too ‘Type A’ to survive,” Dorien recalls. “Since I was tired of billing out my life by the quarter-hour and wearing pantyhose, I turned back to writing.”

Her first novel, a romantic comedy called Designs on Jake, was published by Harlequin in 2002. Recently she’s been co-authoring some quite satisfying novels with her pal Janet Evanovich, including Love in a Nutshell and The Husband List. Thank goodness she’s not billing by the hour anymore.
