Crime fiction novelist Paul Levine worked as a news reporter, law professor, and trial lawyer before becoming a full-time writer. His 18 books, mostly legal thrillers, have been translated into 21 languages. His two popular series are known by the main characters’ names: “Jake Lassiter” and “Solomon vs. Lord.”

paulBook 1 of “Solomon vs. Lord” tops today’s Buffet. In this funny, fast-paced thriller, circumstances force two lawyers with opposing personalities — by-the-book Victoria Lord and anything-goes Steve Solomon — into defending a “grieving” widow who’s been charged with murdering her wealthy husband during a kinky sexcapade.

Reminiscent of the classic Hepburn-Tracy screwball comedies, Solomon vs. Lord has been nominated for the Thurber Prize for American Humor and the Edgar and Macavity awards.

After studying journalism at Penn State University, Paul worked as a newspaper reporter in Florida before graduating cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law. He was a practicing lawyer before becoming a novelist, and at age 51 launched his Hollywood writing career. He wrote 19 scripts for the CBS military series JAG, which aired from 1995 to 2005.

Paul’s most recent book, Lassiter, is slated for an April release, but is already available for download on Kindle.

My Prison Without Bars: The Journey of a Damaged Woman to Someplace Normal

Biographies & Memoirs
Author: Taylor Fulks
My Prison Without Bars: The Journey of a Damaged Woman to Someplace Normal

The disturbing account of real-life physical and sexual child abuse and its long-lasting effects. Escaping into a world of fiction often provides a welcome diversion: the forces of good triumphing over evil and an ending that pleasantly satisfies.

The brutal account includes graphic descriptions of child abuse, both sexual and physical, and is not for the faint of heart. Instead of supernatural or larger-than-life “bad guys,” the demons who haunt the story of Fulks’ childhood are all too real. To her credit, Fulks weaves a compelling narrative with commanding prose and unforgivingly detailed descriptions of truly horrifying experiences. As she moves past her childhood, she intensely describes how her experiences colored even the ordinary aspects of her life, from dating to marriage and even having children. Although there are a few bright spots in her story, the overall tone is indisputably bleak; readers won’t come away believing in the power of positivity.
