Romance/mystery writer Michele Scott assumes the pen name A.K. Alexander for her terrifying tale Daddy’s Home, which sits atop today’s Buffet.

ak

Michele began writing when she was nine years old. After graduating college, she enrolled in a Writer’s Digest correspondence course. Her class project became her first book, and she hasn’t stopped since.

Her lighthearted “Michele” novels include unique recipes and wine pairings. She uses the A.K. pseudonym for her scary books that fall outside the expectations of “Michele” readers.

She’s managed to finish 17 books already, despite never having learned how to type. “I hunt and peck, so my first drafts have tons of mistakes,” Michele says. “I really wish I’d taken typing in school.”

Michele offers this no-nonsense advice for aspiring authors: “Sit your butt in the chair and turn on the computer and begin putting ideas down. That’s it. Keep writing until you finish a book, then write another one, learn the business, and if this is your passion—don’t give up.”

This book challenges conventional photography wisdom. Discussions range from advice on camera purchase to whether the whole idea of beauty needs a makeover to cheap ways to get into product photography. This book goes from the extremely practical equipment and technique based writing through to the much quirkier, e.g. how to photograph a flaming Christmas pudding or a description of getting landscape shots in sub zero temperatures with a 20 mph wind.
