Product DescriptionStrange things happen in the Alaska bush. The native Alaskans say that a white man, too long alone out there will go mad. Gus O'Neill suspects it may have happened to him. His two best friends, Hard Case Calis the old Alaska State Trooper, and Haywood Jennings the flying veterinarian think so too. Gus spends a summer on Moose Jaw Creek where he builds a cabin, finds a ravaged red-haired beauty he comes to love, and murders the man who had sexually molested her. When Haywood flies in to join Gus for a moose hunt he finds his friend alone and raving. There is no evidence that Gus' redhead or the dead man he claims to have killed ever existed.
Gus is baffled by the disappearance of his woman and the body of his victim, but he agrees to join Haywood on a moose hunt. While getting in position to drive a large bull toward Haywood, Gus is attacked by a giant grizzly that has been stalking him. He manages to kill the bear but is badly mauled in the process. Haywood finds Gus and the dead bear, and flies his injured friend back to Fairbanks for treatment. The following day Haywood returns to Gus' cabin with Hard Case to deal with the dead bear. During the flight they discuss Gus' condition and his weird tale about the woman he had found and the man he'd killed. They agree Gus must have gone a little crazy while out there alone. Things become complicated when, back in the woods near Gus' cabin, they find no bear carcass. Haywood insists he had seen and touched its dead body just yesterday. The two friends return to Fairbanks as mystified as Gus. When Hard Case unearths an unsolved case file that dates back more than forty years, it becomes clear that Gus may not have imagined the woman or the murder after all. Strange things happen in the Alaska bush.

English Teaching Professional, January 2009 Review:
Compelling Conversations is a recommended resource for teachers who want to make their conversation classes more learner-centered. It should be especially appealing to those who wish to escape the confines of the Presentation-Practice-Production approach and do without a formal grammatical or functional syllabus. It reflects the authors' considerable professional experience, and would be a notable addition to any English teacher's bookshelf. - Hall Houston
This outstanding resource (Compelling Conversations) allows teachers to confidently walk into an advanced ESL classroom with self-contained, engaging conversation lessons... I wish I would have had that book in my old adult/university classes. A great book for adult education teachers, university instructors, and private tutors!" - Eric Busch
Santa Monica Daily Press, 1/16/2009 Review:
Have you been looking for a good ESL manual? If you have, I think Compelling Conversations is one to consider. ...This manual will go best with the advanced ESL student or even at coffee shop conversation clubs. It will bring about authentic, not stilted communication, which should be the purpose of an ESL course. It is easier for a person to learn a language through conversation rather than by a given list of vocabulary words. That is what makes this a welcome addition to the material which can be used for the immigrant who must learn English to advance in the world. - Dane Robert Swanson

"RED ADEPT REVIEWS" (AMAZON TOP 1000 REVIEWER) says 4 3/4 STARS: "This book put me in mind of The Prince of Tides, by Pat Conroy. The storyline was filled with surprises. There were scenes that made me cry, scenes that made me chuckle, if a bit darkly, and scenes that made me want to cheer."
Hidden in Amy Macon’s memoir, as much a mystery as a survival guide for a torturous childhood, is the need to stitch together the fabric of a family's dark history.
Her brother, Lee Macon, can't forget waking up inside his mother's coffin or the memory of the man who put him there. That's a secret he’s kept from Amy for 30 years.
But if there's one thing they understand, it's out of a houseful of children, only two of them remain alive. Now, in the wake of their youngest sister’s murder, Amy must have the truth, knowing it will ease the scars brought on by time, if not the ones carved in her wrists. In this, Lee finds himself blindsided by a sister’s resolve, drawn up by the corners of a broken heart and forced to share what, as a boy, he so desperately fought to conceal. Problem is no one said it would be easy digging up the dead. It never is. Sifting through the bones of the past, means piecing together the mystery of a family long buried in violence.
A provocative novel of literary/suspense, The Weight of Glass is a story of a family’s struggle with revenge in the wake of tragedy.
Product DescriptionCat Colvin
Or something else entirely?
Cat Colvin is pretty much your typical run-of-the-mill teenager. Sure, she's taller than most girls, has a mane of fiery red hair that's impossible to tame, is left-handed, and her eyes are two different colors, but that's where the differences end . . . unless you include the minor detail of her slow transformation into a Childe.
High school can definitely be challenging, and for Cat it's no different. This is especially true when she's faced with the daunting task of trying to hide her budding Childe traits as they begin to reveal themselves at the most inopportune times. To make matters worse, her family is oddly dead set against Ryan, the boy she grows to like. But everyone has their secrets: is Ryan really what he seems to be, and what is Cat's family not telling her?
The Childe is the first book in this coming-of-age fantasy series which follows Cat's life through the twists and turns toward finding out whom and what she really is. Come and take the plunge with Cat into a world filled with mystery, biting humor, and the paranormal.

Praise for Shining in Crimson:
"A big-scale vampire thriller that changes the rules."--Scott Nicholson, author of Liquid Fear, The Red Church, and They Hunger
"One of the best surprises I've had in a long while. Writing with a smart, self-assured ease, Robert S. Wilson has given us a gift with Shining in Crimson. Part Underworld, part Escape From New York, Shining in Crimson is genuinely frightening, genuinely thrilling, but above all, first-rate storytelling. I'm a Robert S. Wilson fan from now on!"--Joe McKinney, author of Flesh Eaters and Apocalypse of the Dead
"Robert S. Wilson shows a lot of promise here with this debut novel. Now it's time to see where that promise will take him."--Ray Wallace, The Chiaroscuro
"You'll not find some glistening torsos and smouldering eyes in this book. What you will find is a brilliantly thought out society of Vampires."--Jim Mcleod, Ginger Nuts of Horror
"The Mesh of Religious symbolism and political commentary tucked neatly between pure horror and suspense is superb."--Lisa Lane, The Cerebral Writer
