Former librarian launches Jersey used bookstore

Linda Fredericks still speaks softly even though years ago she traded her school librarian job to own and manage a used book store.

The Book Trader, a small shop with a giant inventory of 250,000 books, used to be in Rahway. That’s where Fredericks, then just a customer, used to bring books to trade in for children’s titles for her library. One day the owner asked her is she’d like to work for her. She accepted the offer and six years later found herself buying the store and moving it to Colonia.

WELCOME to the fold, Linda! We are ten years this year, and there is nothing like this business for diversity of duties, but also excitement and fun! No lie, there is also a lot of work, but somehow when you love what you do, even the work seems less like it than when you aren’t ‘in love’ with your little business. For me, it defines who I am. I am Sadie Sadie, BOOK lady! Now, so are you!
