A shameless plug for my new book

This will be off-topic for some of you, but I hope you’ll indulge me.

If you’ve poked around this Web site very much, you’ve noticed there’s another blog about books. That one, however, is intended for authors, not sellers. It’s a collection of things I’ve learned since writing “The Home-Based Bookstore” in 2005.

And if you’re a book author or aspiring author, you might want to check out my new book by the same name, Plug Your Book! It explains how authors can find and build an audience using grassroots marketing on the Internet instead of paid advertising. Its product page on Amazon includes the table of contents, the introduction, and first chapter.

I found your book last night on Amazon. It showed up as a “feature”. I was surprised to see your name as the author! My, you are a talented guy and very busy, too! Congratulations! It looks great and already has great reviews. Hope it does well for you!

I’m going to buy this book. I wonder, though, why the product details on Amazon show a 2006 pub date: “Publisher: Weber Books (February 25, 2006)?”

    Stephen,

I haven’t the foggiest idea why Amazon indicates February 2006 instead of 2007. Believe me, I’ve submitted the correction to their catalog department.

If this book is anything like the home based book store it should be great. However, if your other blog is written as this one was in its formative period it would be better not to buy the book at all, and just go through your blog. After reading home based book store i noticed there was not much information you did not recycle from your book onto your blog, or vice versa. Anyway, good luck with the whole selling thing.

    Eric,

Actually that’s one of the main points in “Plug Your Book” — that a good way to sell something is to give it away. Sounds crazy but it can work. I don’t mind at all, though, if people just want to read the blog.

I bought Steve’s book, as well as reading the blog every time it comes in my email. I bought the book because Steve answered my questions re: the book business with an ‘accessibility’ I was impressed with. I knew he didn’t make money from it, so I gave him $$$ the only way I could. I bought his book.

I find they are two different beasts, the book/blog. One gives you an anthology of informative articles (the chapters), a reference source you can thumb through. The blog, on the other hand, answers questions, with unique and personal phrasing because they come from ‘us.’
I learn something each time I read either source.

Thanks Steve, and congrats on the new title!

Congratulations on the new book Steve, as soon as I saw it I was off ordering a copy for myself. I enjoy reading your blog so I’m sure this will make interesting reading even though I’m dyslexic and I stand no chance of ever becoming an author myself! Hopefully it will help my attempts at learning more about marketing…

    Keep up the good work.

    Steve.
