If you’re a regular eBay user, you know the auction site is planning to updating its feedback system. Here’s a preview of what it will look like, based on testing on ebay’s UK site.
I just see this as another opportunity for the disgruntled buyer to slam a seller he didn’t like. I think ebay wants to continually change the format, therefore constantly confusing the ebay users. Leave it alone!! It ain’t broke!!!
I had a buyer give me slow shipping when she was late in paying and we completely concluded the auction in 14 days. Kept telling me it had been a month when I kept telling her to look at the date!! Never did convince her and she wouldn’t listen so I gave only the 2nd negative in 9 years. With this new way they can nit pick, according to what THEY believe has happened and destroy your feedback. Once again…ain’t broke, don’t fix it!!!(as if ebay cares WHAT we think!!!)
The part about displaying the item and price is really wrong – it’s an invasion of privacy. During a time when the medical community has to change all of their processes to adhere to new privacy rules, and online scams are more common than ever, why display exactly what someone bought and how much they paid for it? If the person buys to resell on ebay, the second buyer will be unhappy seeing the price they paid. And the item can be potentially embarrassing – I purchased a few things through my account for someone else that weren’t illegal or wrong, just not something I would want anyone to believe that I bought for myself.
All of the details of purchases can also aid scammers in phishing – the more info they have about you the more they can use against you to convince you their phish is real.
I agree with the “ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. I like the ebay feedback system the way it is. Why make things even more complicated to complete? People do complain a lot about things that are not the sellers fault “Especially shipping… I ship fast, But the customer gets mad when it takes 2 weeks to arrive when they chose media mail. I explain this all the time to them. If there is a new feedback form to allow them to pick at every part then there will be a lot more negatives. Maybe it’s time for sellers to band together and create our own ebay or amazon and run it the way it should be run. Competition cures a lot of problems.
Drat…I was just telling one of my eBay friends how much better their feedback system is than Amazon’s clunky 1-5 rating design.
I agree that the current system is working just fine, but I can’t imagine what inspired this new idea. Now then, are buyers on eBay going to be subject to the same new standards? If they aren’t then that’s really going to create some new problems…hmm…guess for the time being I’ll stick with Amazon.
