User-generated content site links writers, publishers
Helium, a "citizen journalism" site, launched a Marketplace where publishers can list "bounties" for articles. Then authors submit the stories, which are ranked by peer reviews. Payment for the articles range from $20 to more than $100, with Helium pocketing a 20 percent commission.Helium has been piloting Marketplace for the past few months with 14 publishers offering about 10 bounties each. Next month, more than 1,000 publishers will participate, according to TechCrunch.
